PHILADELPHIA -- For the Philadelphia Eagles to go worst-to-first in the NFC East, they had to win at home. Tyler Lydon Jersey . Bye-bye, losing streak. Nick Foles threw for 298 yards and spun free for a touchdown, LeSean McCoy ran for two scores and the Eagles snapped a 10-game losing skid at Lincoln Financial Field with a 24-16 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday. A year after finishing 4-12 under Andy Reid, Chip Kelly had guided his Eagles (6-5) to the division lead. Theyre a half-game ahead of idle Dallas (5-5). The defending division champion Redskins rallied in the fourth quarter but fell short, dropping to 3-7. "I dont look at it globally," Kelly said. "We have five games in December and we put ourselves in position where those games are meaningful. Well see where were at Dec. 29." The Eagles hadnt won at home in 413 days since defeating the New York Giants on Sept. 30, 2012. Theyll enter their bye week on a three-game winning streak, having turned things around after consecutive home losses last month. "Not one person on this team was defeated," Foles said. "Everybody in our locker room believed we can win and if you feel that way, its something special. We have to keep the momentum going." Down 24-0 in the fourth quarter, the Redskins rallied behind Robert Griffin IIIs TD passes of 62 yards to Darrel Young and 41 yards to Aldrick Robinson and both 2-point conversions. RG3 then drove the Redskins to the Eagles 18 before his pass off his back foot was intercepted by Brandon Boykin in the end zone. "I was trying to throw the ball in the back of the end zone," he said. "It didnt get to where I wanted it to go. Obviously I was on my heels. Something I can definitely learn from." Foles didnt throw any TD passes after tossing 10 in the past two games. But he still hasnt thrown an interception this year, extending his streak to 199 passes without a pick. Foles tied an NFL record with seven TD passes in a win at Oakland two weeks ago and followed it with three more in a victory at Green Bay. McCoy finished with 77 yards rushing and 73 receiving. He leads the NFL with 1,009 yards on the ground. Foles had a career-best 47 yards rushing. "Were all playing as one," McCoy said. "Earlier in the year, the offence was playing good and defence wasnt or defence was playing good and offence wasnt. Now were clicking. The Redskins started their last drive at their 4 with 3:26 left after a 70-yard punt by Donnie Jones. Griffin completed a 28-yard pass to Santana Moss on third-and-25 and Washington eventually moved to the 18 before the pick. Griffin was 17 of 35 for 264 yards and ran for 44 yards. "Took us until the fourth quarter to make a couple plays," Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said. "We had our opportunity at the end. Just couldnt take advantage of it." A 33-27 win at Washington in the season opener kick-started the Kelly Era and raised expectations in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. The Eagles lost the next three games before winning five of seven. Foles replaced an injured Michael Vick in the first half of a victory at the Giants on Oct. 6, and has led the Eagles to a 4-1 record since. The Redskins couldnt generate much offence until Griffin connected with Young after scrambling early in the fourth quarter. He hit Nick Williams on the conversion. Robinson made a nice adjustment to catch Griffins underthrown deep pass for the next score, and RG3 dived in from the 2 for the conversion. But Washington couldnt complete the comeback. Foles ran in from the 4 for a 7-0 lead, even showing some athleticism with a spin move after getting hit at the 2 and then reaching for the end zone. A 49-yard pass to McCoy set up the score. One play after Brent Celek turned a tight-end screen pass into a 42-yard gain, McCoy ran in untouched from the 1. The Redskins drove to the Eagles 8 before Griffin was sacked by Connor Barwin and fumbled. The ball popped straight up and was recovered by Fletcher Cox. The Eagles turned that into a 24-yard field goal by Alex Henery to make it 17-0. McCoy left briefly after injuring his right hamstring in the second quarter and scored on a 1-yard run to put the Eagles up 24-0 in the third. Grimes signed a $32 million, four-year contract to remain with Miami. The deal, which includes $16 million guaranteed, rewards Grimes for his recovery from an Achilles tendon injury that forced him to miss almost all of the 2012 season.NEW YORK -- Dillon Gee expected to pitch this well in his return from the disabled list. What surprised him was the new attitude in the New York Mets clubhouse. David Wright ignited a tiebreaking rally in the seventh with a hustle double, Travis dArnaud gave Gee some cushion with a two-run drive later in the inning and New York beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1 on Wednesday night for its first four-game winning streak in a year. In his first start in two months, Gee (4-1) pitched seven-plus dominant innings as the Mets won the first three of a four-game series against the Braves less than two weeks after being swept in Atlanta. "Its very different," Gee said. "Guys are having a lot of fun." The mood is shifting in the visitors clubhouse, too. The Braves went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position in their fourth straight loss, dropping them a game behind first-place Washington in the NL East after surging to the top of the division with a nine-game winning streak. Atlanta has scored just eight runs over the skid and is 5 for 38 (.132) with runners in scoring position over that span. "When we were winning nine in a row we were driving in the runs in situational hitting," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Obviously we are not doing that now." DArnauds long ball in the seventh came two pitches after Kirk Nieuwenhuis gave New York the lead with a sacrifice fly. The drive to left field off Ervin Santana (7-6) gave New York a homer in nine straight games at Citi Field, a team record for the stadium that opened in 2009. Wright hit a lazy liner to left-centre leading off the seventh. He slowed as he made the turn at first but then took off when he saw left fielder Justin Upton make a lackadaisical attempt to get it back in, flopping into second as Uptons late throw sailed toward the Mets dugout. Wright advanced on Lucas Dudas fly to right. "Tremendous job running the bases," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "Heads up play." Duda gave the Mets an early lead with a two-out RBI single in the first. B.J Uptons RBI double in the fifth tied it 1-all. Santana scored after reaching on an infield single. In between, both starters were particularly stingy, allowing three baserunnerrs total between the second and fifth innings. Alex English Jersey. All three were wiped out by double plays -- two by the Mets. Activated from the disabled list to make the start, Gee slid into the rotation slot left open when Jonathon Niese went on the DL on Sunday because of a left shoulder strain. The 28-year-old Gee was on quite a roll when he strained his right lat May 10, going 3-1 with a 1.36 ERA in his last five starts. Back on the mound with a scruffy beard Wednesday, he was just as good. "I felt like I was making my debut all over again," Gee said. Gee faced the minimum 15 batters through five innings. A walk to leadoff batter B.J. Upton was wiped out by a caught stealing -- after a replay review. New Jersey native Tommy La Stella opened the third with a single but Gerald Laird grounded into a double play. "He was sailing along about as good as you can possibly do. He made pitch after pitch," Collins said. "Thats the Dillon Gee we have known to love." Gee was lifted in the eighth with runners on first and second and no outs having thrown 88 pitches. He allowed six hits, a walk and struck out four. Vic Black then got three outs to quash the rally. Jenrry Mejia gave up two hits and threw a two-out wild pitch in the ninth before striking out La Stella to loud cheers from the sparse crowd for his ninth save in 11 chances. Santana was equally tough into the seventh. After allowing a double to Daniel Murphy and Dudas RBI hit in the first, he yielded just one hit until Wright doubled. "It was a great game for both sides," Santana said. "When it is a game like that it is only going to be one way, whoever makes the first mistake, that is going to be the game right there." He allowed four runs and six hits in seven innings. Coming in, the Mets had just one run in 15 innings this season against Santana. NOTES: The Mets optioned RHP Gonzalez Germen to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room for Gee. ... Gonzalez said about Braves C Evan Gattis (back), "I dont see him being ready to play" right after the All-Star break next week. ... Up next: Atlantas Aaron Harang (8-6) and New Yorks Bartolo Colon (8-7) face off in the finale of the four-game series. ' ' '
