A former Ohio State and Chicago Bears offensive lineman has been charged with felony assault of a police officer.
Charges against 33-year-old Kirk Barton were filed after his arrest outside the Bogey Bar & Grill in Dublin Cody Parkey Jersey , Ohio.
Police say the 6-foot-6 Barton was at the bar Friday when management asked deputies to remove him because he was intoxicated and knocking people over.
The Delaware County Sheriff's office says Barton was escorted to a taxi van without incident but couldn't provide his address. Deputies and the taxi driver were trying to determine the address when Barton allegedly slammed the van's sliding door on a deputy's arm.
Barton's attorney, Sam Shamansky, said Tuesday he hadn't reviewed all the evidence and didn't know how the case will proceed. He also expressed concern for the injured deputy.
25. TENNESSEE TITANS (10-8)
LAST SEASON: Disappointed at missing AFC South title in season both Andrew Luck and thrilling rookie Deshaun Watson missed serious time with injuries. Titans still reached playoffs as wild card with second consecutive 9-7 record and turned in playoff comeback by rallying from 18 points down to win in Kansas City. But Titans fired coach Mike Mularkey after ugly divisional loss at New England because of his commitment to offense that stumbled to 15th in rushing, with Marcus Mariota throwing for only 13 TDs and career-worst 15 interceptions. LT Taylor Lewan, DL Jurrell Casey and P Brett Kern all were voted to Pro Bowl Terrell Owens Jersey , and All-Pro S Kevin Byard, TE Delanie Walker and ST Brynden Trawick all played in game.
THEY NEED: OLB, DE, ILB, S Mario Addison Jersey , WR, OL.
THEY DON'T NEED: LT, RB, CB.
POSSIBLE FIRST PICK: OLB/DE Harold Landry, Boston College; LB Rashaan Evans Luke Kuechly Jersey , Alabama; LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise State; LB Roquan Smith, Georgia; DE Marcus Davenport, Texas-San Antonio; C James Daniel, Iowa.

Mariota is completely healthy this offseason and already has worked with WR Corey Davis Jose Altuve Jersey , No. 5 overall pick last year limited by hamstring injury as rookie. Titans released RB DeMarco Murray after worst rushing season of career and signed Dion Lewis to pair with Derrick Henry in backfield. Titans also added CB Malcolm Butler to bolster secondary featuring Byard and CBs Adoree Jackson, who started every game last season as rookie, and veteran Logan Ryan. Titans need depth rushing passer behind LB Derrick Morgan (29) and LB Brian Orakpo (32 in July) both going into final season under contract.

Chris Paul’s grit and veteran leadership have pushed the Golden State Warriors to the brink of elimination.
Now the Houston Rockets must wait to see if his injured leg is strong enough to help them take one last step to the NBA Finals.
Eric Gordon came off the bench to score 24 points and his steal on Golden State’s last possession secured a 98-94 victory Thursday night that gave the Rockets a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals. But the victory came with a cost Trai Turner Jersey , as Paul had to leave the game in the final minute with a right hamstring injury that could keep him out of Game 6.
”His spirits aren’t great,” coach Mike D’Antoni said. ”He wanted to be out there, and for sure he’s worried … we’ll see tomorrow how it goes.”
Paul was receiving treatment after the game and did not speak to reporters.
The Rockets head to Oakland for Game 6 on Saturday night a win away from knocking off the defending champions and advancing to the NBA Finals for the first time since winning back-to-back titles in 1994-95.
Kevin Durant scored 29 points for the Warriors, who lost in Game 5 of a playoff series for just the second time since 2015. Just like Cleveland in the East, a run of three straight trips to the championship round is on the verge of ending.
”We haven’t been in this position before … so it’s a chapter we need to figure out and finish the story,” Stephen Curry said.
The Rockets won a second straight defensive struggle between the two potent offenses, leaving the Warriors a loss from missing the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014.
Draymond Green made a 3-pointer with just over minute left to get Golden State within one. Harden, who was 0 for 11 on 3s, missed his last one with less than 30 seconds left, giving the Warriors the ball back.
Curry missed a floater and Trevor Ariza grabbed the rebound and was fouled with 10 seconds left. But he made just one of two free throws to give the Warriors another chance.
But Gordon came up with his steal when Green lost control in the lane and added two free throws with 2.4 seconds left to put it away.
Green was asked what was supposed to happen on the play.
”We was supposed to score,” he said. ”I lost the ball … not much more to it than that.”
Harden scoffed at a reporter who questioned him about his struggles from long range in the last two games, where he’s gone a combined 3 for 22.
”Who cares,” he said. ”I’m just missing shots, but we’re winning.”
Klay Thompson shook off a knee injury that had his status for this game in question to score 23 points and Curry added 22. A bruised left knee kept Andre Iguodala out for the second straight game Peyton Manning Jersey , and Kevon Looney started in his place.
After losing Game 1 of the series, the Rockets made the best of home-court advantage this time, thrilling a sellout crowd that included Justin Timberlake, Houston Texans star J.J. Watt and rapper Travis Scott.
It’s Houston’s second straight win in the series after snapping Golden State’s NBA playoff-record, 16-game home winning streak with a 95-92 victory on Tuesday night.
Golden State led by one to start the fourth before Paul got going, scoring seven points to power a 10-5 run that gave the Rockets an 81-77 lead with about 9 1/2 minutes left.
Thompson made a 3-pointer after that and then officials reviewed Paul’s first basket of the quarter and ruled he got it off after the shot clock expired, leaving the Warriors ahead 80-79.
The Rockets were clinging to a one-point lead with about seven minutes left when Durant fouled Gordon on a 3-point attempt, losing one of his shoes in the process. Gordon made all three free throws to start a 7-2 spurt that extended the lead to 88-82 midway through the quarter.
Warriors: Coach Steve Kerr was unsure Thursday if Iguodala would be able to return for Game 6. ”He’s dying to play, but he’s not healthy enough,” Kerr said. ”We’ll just continue to take it day to day.”… Curry made four free throws to tie Rick Barry for most free throws made in the playoffs in franchise history with 378. … Golden State had 18 turnovers.
Rockets: Clint Capela had 12 points and 14 rebounds for his seventh double-double this postseason. … Houston made 13 of 43 3-pointers, led by four from Gordon.
SANTA FE STRONG
The Rockets honored the 10 people killed in last week’s school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, before the game, with the school’s choir singing the national anthem and team owner Tilman Fertitta wearing a ”Santa Fe Strong” T-shirt Wes Horton Jersey , before Houston scored the game’s first six points in a first half where the team led by as many as 11.
Houston also wore rectangular patches on its jerseys that read: ”Santa Fe HS,” to remember those affected by the tragedy.
”We wanted to come out and give them light, put smiles on their faces (and) clear their minds a little bit,” Harden said.
After Game 6 on Saturday, the Rockets would host Game 7 on Monday if necessary.
Derrick Johnson has been the enemy in Oakland for 13 years, tormenting the Raiders while wearing red for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Johnson has traded sides in the fierce AFC West rivalry, joining the Raiders as the veteran anchor at middle linebacker in a defense that is being rebuilt this offseason.
”It was different, I don’t want to say weird, but it’s different to put on the silver and black – even shirt – because we haven’t put on jerseys and helmets and all of that stuff yet,” Johnson said Wednesday. ”Even to put on the shirt, it was different for me. But you know what, when we got in the middle of the field, when you talk ball and you start running around, tossing the football around and calling plays and going over backs Brandon Linder Jersey , I’m very familiar to that. So, that went out of my mind really fast.”
Johnson has been one of the better linebackers in the league during his career but was allowed to leave Kansas City earlier this offseason as the team tried to get younger. The 35-year-old Johnson is a four-time Pro Bowler and the career tackles leader for the Chiefs.
He had options about where to play this year but ultimately opted to join the Raiders, where he will take over the spot at middle linebacker that NaVorro Bowman held after joining Oakland midway through last season.
Johnson said the enthusiasm of coach Jon Gruden and the linebacker-friendly scheme of coordinator Paul Guenther were what made his decision to sign with the Raiders.
”The main reason I’m still playing ball and chasing a championship ring just because I believe I have a lot left in the tank,” he said. ”That’s the only reason I’m back. When I get to a point where I’m like, man, I’m hanging on, I’ll get out, I’ll get out of the NFL. But right now, and I expressed this to Coach Gruden, I wasn’t interested in some type of rebuilding atmosphere. As soon as I said that, he had that look in his eye like, you’re talking about the sense of urgency to win. That’s exactly right.”
Johnson has appeared in 182 games with 169 starts since being drafted in the first round in 2005. He piled up 1,262 tackles to easily shatter the Chiefs franchise record, had 27 sacks and picked off 14 passes Gale Sayers Jersey , returning four of them for touchdowns.
He had a career-best 179 tackles in 2011, when he was voted the Chiefs’ team MVP.
Johnson accumulated his impressive stats despite missing part of two seasons with ruptured Achilles tendons. He returned from the first one as good as ever, earning his most recent Pro Bowl trip in 2015, but the second seemed to finally take a step out of his legs last season.
Johnson said he feels much healthier now than he did at this time a year ago.
”This offseason I was working out and I was like, man, it’s a lot different from last year coming off an injury,” he said. ”My burst is back, it’s better than ever and it’s a good feeling because it’s going to help me make plays, it’s going to help me be explosive, and the longer you’re out from your season-ending injury, it usually gets better and it helps you out mentally. This will be my second season out from my last Achilles injury. I was healthy last year. I’m even better this year because I got a really good offseason training that I really didn’t get to do last year because I was coming off of the injury.”
The Raiders need an anchor in the middle of their defense. Bowman fared well in that role after being signed last October following his release by San Francisco. There was interest in bringing him back for a second season but the two sides couldn’t agree on a price.
Oakland didn’t address that need at linebacker in this year’s draft until the sixth round with the pick of Washington linebacker Azeem Victor.
Devonte Graham Jersey ,
behind Patrick Kane in the 2007 draft. Now 29 Ryan Grant Jersey , he scored a career-best 36 goals last season and had a career-best 62 points two years ago. He will count $7 million against the salary cap through 2022-23.
This is by far general manager Ron Hextall’s biggest free agent signing and Philadelphia’s richest since giving goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov $41.9 million on a nine-year deal in 2011. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound forward provides the Flyers with scoring punch on the power play and could be a long-term replacement for Wayne Simmonds, who has one year left on his contract.

Veteran free-agent defenseman Jack Johnson has agreed to sign a five-year, $16.25 million deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
A person with direct knowledge of negotiations confirmed the agreement and terms of the contract to The Associated Press. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal cannot be announced until after the free-agency signing period opens at noon Sunday.
The 31-year-old Johnson spent the past six-plus seasons playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he had 36 goals and 118 assists for 154 points in 445 games. He has 12 seasons of NHL experience after being selected by Carolina with the No. 3 pick in the 2005 draft. The Hurricanes then traded Johnson to Los Angeles the following year.
The Penguins are retooling their blue line after trading Matt Hunwick as part of the deal that also sent forward Conor Sheary to the Buffalo Sabres last week.

The Minnesota Wild are bringing in a couple of veteran forwards, agreeing to one-year deals with Matt Hendricks and Eric Fehr.
A person with direct knowledge of discussions tells The Associated Press the Wild agreed to a $700,000 contract with the 37-year-old Hendricks. A second person with direct knowledge of talks says the Wild have also agreed to a deal with Fehr.
The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the contracts cannot be signed until the free agent signing period opens later Sunday.
Hendricks gets a raise from the $650,000 he was making with the Winnipeg Jets. He had 13 points in 60 games last season in largely a fourth-line role. The 32-year-old Fehr finished last season with San Jose and had four points in 14 regular-season games.

The Buffalo Sabres have reached an agreement to sign free-agent goalie Carter Hutton to a three-year Billy Turner Jersey , $8.25 million contract.
A person with direct knowledge with negotiations confirmed the deal to The Associated Press. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because contracts cannot be announced until the NHL’s signing period opens later Sunday. FoxSportsMidwest.com first reported the deal.
The 32-year-old Hutton has six seasons of NHL experience, including the past two with the Blues, where he split starting duties with Jake Allen. He finished with a 17-7-3 record and a 2.09 goals-against average in 32 games last year.
The Sabres have needs at goalie after electing not to re-sign third-year starter Robin Lehner and veteran backup Chad Johnson.
Hutton would form a tandem with Linus Ullmark, who is pegged to make the jump to the NHL level on a full-time basis after spending the past three years developing in the minors.

Star center John Tavares did not sign with the New York Islanders before midnight, taking an eight-year deal out of the equation and eliminating his old team’s biggest advantage.
As of Sunday morning, Tavares had still not announced a decision on where he will sign on what could be a seven-year deal worth upward of $70 million. The 27-year-old playmaker and his representatives met with the Islanders, his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs, the San Jose Sharks T.Y. Hilton Jersey , Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning last week.
Paul Stastny, who was traded from St. Louis to Winnipeg and produced 15 points in 17 playoff games, and Toronto’s Tyler Bozak are the next-best centers available.
A person with direct knowledge of discussions tells The Associated Press that veteran forward Thomas Vanek is expected to sign with the Detroit Red Wings once the NHL’s free agency period opens.
The person spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity Sunday because talks are still ongoing, and teams are not allowed to announce deals until the signing period opens at noon Eastern.
Vanek is a 13-year NHL veteran and will return to Detroit, where he spent a portion of the 2016-17 season. He’s an 11-time 20-goal-scorer, and opened last year playing in Vancouver before closing the season with Columbus.
Vanek became the highest drafted Austrian-born player when the Buffalo Sabres selected him with the No. 5 pick in 2003.
Overall, he has 357 goals and 396 assists for 753 points in 965 career NHL games.
The top draw of free agency is forward John Tavares of the New York Islanders.

Cowboys special teams coach Keith O’Quinn said the new kickoff rules could have an unintended consequence. His kicker LeGarrette Blount Jersey , Dan Bailey, agrees.
Bailey said he “totally gets” the reason for the rules changes. The NFL wants to reduce injuries, particularly concussions, on the most dangerous play in football.
Packers president Mark Murphy a member of the competition committee, has warned that the NFL could eliminate kickoffs if the rules changes don’t lead to a safer play.
“Every year there’s more and more data that gives insight into how we can play safer and improve the game,” Bailey said, via the Dallas Morning News. “So, I get it and I’m all for guys playing safe because it means they are going to have long careers. You want everyone to play as long as they can. I think it’s just part of the game now. We’ve got so much data and everything is tracked. It’s good to implement what you can to make everybody safer.”
However Shawn Williams Jersey , Bailey said the rules changes, designed to result in fewer high-speed collisions, could lead to more kickoff returns and potentially more chances for injuries.
“More returns could be an unintended consequence of the new rules,” Bailey said. “If eight members of the return team have to be lined up within 15 yards of the spot of kickoff, what’s to keep the kicker from just popping it right over the top? That could be dangerous. Not maybe a concussion, but guys being in a scrum trying to get to a popped-up ball and maybe getting an ankle rolled.”

To say Kole Calhoun was struggling would be an understatement.
When the Los Angeles Angels‘ right fielder was placed on the disabled list June 2 with a strained right oblique Nick Boyle Jersey , he was in a 12-for-122 slump (.098), dropping his season average to .145.
“Every day is a new day,” Calhoun told the Orange County Register last week. “You’ve still got to go out and perform. I’m not thinking about it much honestly. I just want to go out and have a good game. Just going out and trying to help the team win.”
He did that Wednesday, going 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs as the Angels snapped the host Seattle Mariners‘ eight-game winning streak with a 7-4 victory. The teams wrap up their three-game series Thursday night at Safeco Field.
Calhoun has hit two home runs in his past three games after hitting just three in his previous 62. Since returning from the DL on June 18, he’s batting .306 (15-for-49) with three doubles, four home runs Reuben Foster Jersey , seven RBIs and 10 runs scored.
That’s helped Calhoun raise his batting average to .180.
He even returned to the leadoff spot in the batting order last week in Baltimore, a spot he held in previous seasons.
“Kole has made some adjustments and hopefully it will pay off,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia told The Register.
Scioscia said one key for Calhoun is he’s been more selective at the plate as of late.
“He’s had a good eye in previous years,” Scioscia said. “It’s been a part of his game, but it’s been elusive this year.”
The Angels will send rookie right-hander Jaime Barria (5-4, 3.40 ERA) to the mound Thursday in place of left-hander Tyler Skaggs Dion Dawkins Jersey , who was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with a right adductor strain. Barria suffered a 6-3 loss on June 12 at Seattle, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits in five innings.
The Mariners are scheduled to start left-hander Marco Gonzales (8-5, 3.77 ERA). Gonzales is 0-0 with a 4.66 ERA in four career starts against the Angels, including two earlier this season.
Gonzales is coming off his first career complete game in a 4-1 victory against Kansas City. Gonzales lost the shutout bid on Mike Moustakas’ two-strike, two-out single in the ninth inning.
“It’s a culmination of a lot of hard work this year and having the right guys behind me,” Gonzales said after his last start. “Those guys played incredible defense behind me and when your team gives you a lead in the first half of the game Sam Mills Jersey , you inch closer to eyeing the end. From the first inning I just had the mentality that this is my game and I’m going to go as deep as I can.”
Gonzales has been a big part of Seattle’s success this season after earning the No. 5 spot in the rotation this spring.
“He’s matured, there’s no question,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said of Gonzales. “It always works better when guys earn it. He has a lot of confidence right now because everything that’s happened this year, he’s earned. From coming into spring training, winning a spot in our rotation, he continues to build throughout the season.”
The Chargers have kicked off June by signing their first-round pick from this year’s draft.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chargers have signed safety Derwin James. James was the 17th overall pick in April and signed a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth season.
There were plenty of predictions in the days and weeks leading up to the draft that had James going earlier in the first round after starring at Florida State K'Waun Williams Jersey , but he wound up lingering long enough for the Chargers to add him to their secondary.
James has been working at strong safety during OTAs, but, per the team’s website, he’s expected to add to his portfolio as he gets comfortable at the professional level. Wherever he winds up come September, it’s a good bet that he’ll be in the starting lineup.

The Supreme Court on Monday gave its go-ahead for states to allow gambling on sports across the nation Justin Jones Jersey , striking down a federal law that barred betting on football, basketball, baseball and other sports in most states.
The justices voted 6-3 to strike down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, a 1992 law that forbade state-authorized sports gambling with some exceptions. It made Nevada the only state where a person could wager on the results of a single game.
Many states have hoped their cut of legalized sports gambling could help solve budget problems. Stock prices for casino operators and equipment makers surged after the ruling was announced.
The ruling, in a case from New Jersey, creates an opening to bring an activity out of the shadows that many Americans already see as a mainstream hobby. The American Gaming Association estimates that Americans illegally wager about $150 billion on sports each year, and one research firm estimated before the ruling that if the Supreme Court were to strike down the law 32 states would likely offer sports betting within five years.
Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the court, "The legalization of sports gambling requires an important policy choice, but the choice is not ours to make. Congress can regulate sports gambling directly, but if it elects not to do so, each state is free to act on its own. Our job is to interpret the law Congress has enacted and decide whether it is consistent with the Constitution. PASPA is not."
Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor dissented. Ginsburg wrote for the three that when a portion of a law violates the Constitution, the court "ordinarily engages in a salvage rather than a demolition operation," preserving what it can. She said that instead of using a "scalpel to trim the statute" her colleagues used "an axe" to cut the remainder down. Breyer agreed with the majority of the court that part of the law must be struck down but said that should not have doomed the rest of the law.
Concerned that questions will be raised at some point that betting could affect teams' performance and the outcome of games, all four major U.S. professional sports leagues, the NCAA and the federal government had urged the court to uphold the federal law. In court, the NBA Phil McConkey Jersey , NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball had argued that New Jersey's gambling expansion would hurt the integrity of their games. Outside court, however, leaders of all but the NFL have shown varying degrees of openness to legalized sports gambling.
On Monday, Major League Baseball issued a statement saying the Supreme Court ruling would have "profound effects" on the league and that it would "continue to seek the proper protections for our sport."
NBA commissioner Adam Silver says the pro basketball league remains favor "of a federal framework that would provide a uniform approach to sports gambling in sates that choose to permit it." He said that "regardless of the particulars of any future sports betting law, the integrity of our game remains our highest priority."
Representatives of the National Hockey League and National Football League had no immediate comment on the ruling, saying they were analyzing it. The NCAA's chief legal officer said the organization is still reviewing the court's decision but added that it "will adjust sports wagering and championship policies to align with the direction from the court."
The court's decision came in a case from New Jersey, which has fought for years to legalize gambling on sports at casinos and racetracks. Former Gov. Chris Christie said after arguments in the case in December that if justices sided with the state, bets could be taken "within two weeks" of a decision.
After the ruling was announced, the former Republican governor tweeted that it was a "great day for the rights of states and their people to make their own decisions." The state's current governor, Democrat Phil Murphy, also cheered the ruling, saying he was "thrilled" to see the high court strike down the "arbitrary ban." He said he looked forward to working with the Legislature to "enact a law authorizing and regulating sports betting in the very near future."
Monmouth Park, a racetrack at the Jersey Shore, has already set up a sports book operation and has previously estimated it could take bets within two weeks of a favorable ruling.
Tony Rodio, president of Tropicana Entertainment, said his Atlantic City casino will "absolutely" offer sports betting once it can get it up and running. "It's been a long time coming Tahir Whitehead Jersey ," he said.
New Jersey has spent years and millions of dollars in legal fees trying to legalize sports betting. In 2012, with voters' support, New Jersey lawmakers passed a law allowing sports betting, directly challenging the 1992 federal law. The four major professional sports leagues and the NCAA sued, and the state lost in court.
In 2014, New Jersey tried a different tactic by repealing laws prohibiting sports gambling at casinos and racetracks. It argued that taking its laws off the books was different from authorizing sports gambling. The state lost again and then took the case to the Supreme Court.
More than a dozen states had supported New Jersey, which argued that Congress exceeded its authority when it passed its law. New Jersey said the Constitution allows Congress to pass laws barring wagering on sports, but Congress can't require states to keep sports gambling prohibitions in place.

These are highly uncertain times for the San Antonio Spurs.
That’s why Lonnie Walker IV might be so valuable.
This is a summer when Spurs mainstay Tony Parker has already left for Charlotte, when four-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili is going through what now seems like his annual contemplation of retirement and when 2014 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard’s future is most uncertain – both in terms of where he may play next and if his quadriceps injury is healed to the point where he can return to the court.
But Walker IV is here, and he’s eager to be a part of whatever will be in San Antonio.
”I’ve worked so hard to get to this moment that I can’t not be confident to play against grown men who are older than me,” said Walker, who turned pro after one season with the Miami Hurricanes. ”I know day-in and day-out the blood, sweat and tears I put into this game and how great a player I can become.”
He had 14 points in the Spurs’ 95-90 win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday – Day 3 of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where there was another 10-game slate as the teams progress toward the start of playoffs later this week.
It’s hard to imagine there’s a player in Las Vegas happier with his current lot in life than Walker IV.
He just got his first apartment, a major accomplishment for a kid whose upbringing in Reading Mark Herzlich Jersey , Pennsylvania was often challenging to say the least. In an Instagram post after getting his new place in San Antonio, Walker IV opened up about how hard times were.
”Survival by the fittest was the strategy growing up,” he wrote. ”Splitting a cheeseburger for dinner. Chips for breakfast. Not knowing where I will sleep the next day. Living with 10 plus people. Waking up in the middle of the night because your house got shot up. Who would’ve thought at the age of 19. I’m alive and healthy and just got my first apt. Who would’ve thought that this kid from Reading would make it out. No one understands my struggle and my pain.”
Such worries are long gone.
He’s guaranteed to make $5 million in salary over the next two years, has signed a shoe deal with Adidas and more than likely will grab a few more endorsements along the way.
In other words, no more splitting cheeseburgers for him. And he hopes his story motivates anyone it reaches.
”To any kid who is trying to become an NBA player or trying to become something in life, I’ve been through it all,” Walker IV said. ”You can’t let adversity continue to knock you down. I just want to continue to motivate everyone and believe that they can be happy and be something special.”

A look at what’s happening around the majors Wednesday:
The Mets march on in their difficult season a day after learning general manager Sandy Alderson had effectively stepped down because his cancer has returned. Officially Bart Starr Jersey , Alderson will take a leave of absence, but he said Tuesday that he was essentially ending his tenure both for his health and because he doesn’t think he’s been successful enough to continue. Assistant general manager John Ricco and special assistants J.P. Ricciardi and Omar Minaya will run the club’s baseball operations in Alderson’s absence. Minaya preceded Alderson as Mets general manager, and Ricciardi was GM of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2001-09.
CAIN NOT ABLE
Lorenzo Cain is missing the chance to face his former teammates this week due to a left groin strain. The Brewers center fielder was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, just as Milwaukee opened a series against Kansas City. Cain left the Royals last offseason for an $80 million, five-year deal with the Brewers, and he’s batting .291 with eight homers Kenyan Drake Jersey , 48 RBIs, 16 stolen bases and an .832 OPS for the NL Central leaders.
Indians rookie Shane Bieber is off to a strong start and gets his first interleague test in a game against St. Louis. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA through three starts, including seven scoreless innings against Detroit last time out. Bieber has 22 strikeouts and three walks in 18 1/3 innings after walking just 18 batters in 274 career minor league innings. The Cardinals will counter with another promising young righty, Jack Flaherty (3-2, 2.50).
Dallas Keuchel (4-8, 3.90) has been the weakest link in Houston’s rotation – which says more about the Astros than Keuchel – but he’s been sharp of late. Over his past two starts Justin Evans Jersey , he’s thrown 12 innings without allowing an earned run, and now he’ll face a Toronto team that struck out 13 times against Charlie Morton in a 7-0 loss Tuesday to Houston.
The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on a one-year contract with wide receiver Mike Wallace.
The 31-year-old Wallace spent the past two seasons in Baltimore and had 52 catches for 748 yards and four touchdowns last year. The deal announced Thursday is reportedly worth up to $4 million.
Wallace has 538 receptions for 8,072 yards and 57 TDs in nine seasons with four teams. He is one of 10 active NFL players with 8,000 career yards receiving and 500 career receptions, joining Antonio Brown, Larry Fitzgerald Joe Hawley Jersey , Antonio Gates, A.J. Wallace was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and has three 1 Star Lotulelei Jersey ,000-yard seasons, including 2016 for the Ravens.
The Super Bowl champion Eagles traded veteran receiver Torrey Smith to Carolina and Wallace fills the need for a deep threat.

The Tennessee Titans say they are releasing defensive lineman Karl Klug after seven years with the franchise.
General manager Jon Robinson said Friday that he appreciates all of Klug’s hard work with Tennessee.
A fifth-round pick in 2011 out of Iowa Andre Tippett Jersey , Klug started eight of his 109 games played for the Titans. Klug had 178 tackles, 21 sacks, 67 quarterback pressures and forced five fumbles. He returned a recovered fumble for a touchdown in 2013 against the Jets.
Klug had 26 tackles and 1 sacks in 15 games last season in his return from a torn Achilles tendon at the end of the 2016 season. That earned him the Titans’ Ed Block Courage Award.
The Seahawks have a new offensive coordinator for the first time since the 2011 season as they hired Brian Schottenheimer to take over for Darrell Bevell after Bevell’s long run on Pete Carroll’s staff.
The change isn’t a major one for players knew to the organization Harry Carson Jersey , but veterans like quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver Doug Baldwin will have some adjustments to make. Baldwin said “you can be fearful of it or you can be excited about it” last week and that he’s chosen the excited path because of the chance to put “something together special again.”
Wilson calls Schottenheimer, who was a coordinator for the Jets and Rams before spending the last two years as a quarterbacks coach with the Colts, “a great teacher” and shares Baldwin’s feelings about what the coach’s lessons can mean for the unit.
“It鈥檚 definitely some added stuff for sure Jordan Mills Jersey , there’s definitely more on the plate,” Wilson said, via the team’s website. “We’ve always had a lot of information Malik McDowell Jersey , but it’s even more. But that’s OK. I’m ready for more and more and just continue to see how far we can take it. I think we’re going to have a great offense, I really do.”
The Seahawks made another big change to their offensive staff when they hired Mike Solari as the new offensive line coach after disappointing work from the unit under Tom Cable. If Solari can get better results, it would do a lot to help Schottenheimer look good in his first year on the new job.

Seahawks running back C.J. Prosise has appeared in just 11 games in two seasons in Seattle as multiple injuries have kept him watching from the sidelines.
Prosise hopes to show he can be durable and available in his third season with the Seahawks.
鈥淚 just know what I can do Antonio Garcia Jersey , I know the impact I have on the game when I鈥檓 out there,鈥?Prosise said, via Michael-Shaun Dugar of the Athletic. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 the thing that really hurt me because, through everything 鈥?the community stuff, like I said Malik McDowell Jersey , that鈥檚 my passion 鈥?when I鈥檓 out there on the field, and I鈥檓 making a big play or I鈥檓 scoring a touchdown, that鈥檚 the best feeling I can ever have. I want that feeling all the time.鈥?/p>
Prosise has had hamstring and groin strains, a fractured scapula and a pair of ankle sprains and a broken wrist bone that’s kept him out of 21 regular season games, four preseason games and two playoff games. He hired a full-time personal trainer to help get him in better shape to attempt to avoid the types of injuries that have hampered him in the past.
鈥淗is body just wasn鈥檛 ready to take on that type of stress and responsibility Matt Haack Jersey ,鈥?Prosise’s trainer Kevin Allen said. 鈥淣ow, he鈥檚 a totally different being. He鈥檚 ready. He鈥檚 225 (pounds) solid. Running stronger than ever. Quick as ever. More powerful than ever. It鈥檚 not going to be a hit-C.J.-and-he-fall-down type thing no more. Hit C.J., and you better wrap him up 鈥?because he鈥檚 225 solid. It鈥檚 not 225 fluff.鈥?/p>
Prosise has been a promising piece when he has been able to see the field. He had 153 yards of offense in a win in New England in 2016. He then broke a 72-yard touchdown run against the Philadelphia Eagles the next week before fracturing his shoulder-blade and missing the rest of the season.
But Prosise’s lack of availability has forced Seattle to load up on additional options. Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny and Mike Davis fill the more traditional running back mold while J.D. McKissic provides the receiving back alternative. Prosise will have to show he can stay on the field or risk Seattle moving on at the end of training camp.
The NFL has once again changed the kickoff.
NFL owners voted today to change the rules on kickoffs, with the following implemented for the 2018 season:
1. No running starts before the ball is kicked.
2. The kicking team must line up with five players on each side of the kicker.
3. At least two players on the kicking team must be outside the numbers.
4. At least two players on the kicking team must be between the numbers and the hashmarks.
5. At least eight players on the receiving team must be within 15 yards of their restraining line Reuben Foster Jersey , which would typically mean between the kicking team鈥檚 45-yard line and the receiving team鈥檚 40-yard line.
6. Until the ball is touched or hits the ground, players on the receiving team can鈥檛 cross the restraining line (typically the 45), or initiate a block within 15 yards of the line where the ball is kicked.
7. No wedge blocks.
All of these rules are designed to limit the number of high-impact collisions on kickoffs, which the NFL says are the most dangerous players in football. Eventually the kickoff might be eliminated altogether. At least for this season, it is remaining in place bus changing significantly.

OPEN CAMP: July 26 Harrison Smith Jersey , Davie, Florida
LAST YEAR: Dolphins regressed in second season under Adam Gase. As rookie coach he led them to 10 wins and playoff berth, but in 2017 Dolphins never recovered from quarterback Ryan Tannehill's season-ending knee injury in training camp, and deteriorated into wildly inconsistent, undisciplined team. They led to start fourth quarter in only two games and were outscored by 112 points, fourth worst in NFL. Owner Stephen Ross decided to keep organization's core leadership intact, but Gase and executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum may need turnaround to keep jobs beyond this year.
IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: S Minkah Fitzpatrick, G Josh Sitton, DE Robert Quinn, WR Danny Amendola, WR Albert Wilson, C Daniel Kilgore, TE Mike Gesicki, RB Frank Gore, RB Kalen Ballage, QB Brock Osweiler.
IMPORTANT LOSSES: DT Ndamukong Suh, WR Jarvis Landry Byron Maxwell Jersey , C Mike Pouncey, G Jermon Bushrod, K Cody Parkey, QB Jay Cutler, QB Matt Moore, TE Julius Thomas, LB Lawrence Timmons.
CAMP NEEDS: Dolphins will count on two players with no NFL experience to assume significant roles. Linebacker Raekwon McMillan, their most promising rookie in 2017, is back after knee injury in first exhibition game ended his season. Fitzpatrick is expected to make immediate impact after being taken with 11th overall pick in April. Most of all, Gase needs to keep Tannehill healthy as quarterback comes back from two serious injuries to left knee since December 2016.
EXPECTATIONS: Tannehill became starter as rookie in 2012 and has still never taken postseason snap, and there's plenty of reason to doubt that will change this year. While he returns, Dolphins bid adieu to three players with Pro Bowl resumes in Suh, Landry and Pouncey. There were financial reasons, and Gase also wanted change in culture. He believes addition of such veterans as Gore, Amendola and Quinn represents upgrade, but oddsmakers disagree. They project Dolphins to again be six-win team.
The Buffalo Bills were so dull during their lean years, comedian Nick Bakay feared his body would fuse to the couch while watching them play.
”It’s an incredibly disturbing image Derek Rivers Jersey ,” Bakay said of wasting away Sundays witnessing his hometown team sleepwalk through one loss after another during a 17-season playoff drought that ended last year.
”I never missed a Bills game. But I was always slumped on my couch. I was never sitting forward. I was never jumping to my feet,” said Bakay, who wrote ”Paul Blart: Mall Cop” and its sequel, and produced and appeared on the TV sitcom ”King of Queens.” ”You sit on your couch, and your couch slowly eats you.”
No different for fans of Buffalo’s other pro sports franchise, the NHL’s Sabres, who finished last for the third time in five years and extended their franchise-worst playoff drought to a seventh season.
In a shot-and-a-beer town where the winters are interminably long, Buffalo sports fans ride things out on the notion of renewal always being just around the corner.
And there’s a new, palpable optimism for this hearty fan base, thanks to a three-day stretch which showed potential to alter the trajectory of both teams.
First, the Bills made a pair of splashes in the first round of the NFL draft on April 26 by trading up to select Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen and Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
Two days later, the Sabres won the NHL draft lottery – something Buffalo lost the previous two times it finished last – and the opportunity to select projected No. 1 pick, Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin.
During the NFL draft, CBS Evening News anchor Jeff Glor got dirty looks from his wife during a rare dinner date sneaking peeks at the Bills’ picks. He then yelped with excitement upon learning the Sabres won the lottery while attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington.
”I had just resigned myself to never winning it,” Glor said. ”But listen, I always have hope.”
In Buffalo, there’s a fine line between affection and affliction for hope.
”I always try to keep it in check a little bit Charles Sims Jersey ,” said Glor, who grew up in the Buffalo suburb of Tonawanda.
”Unfortunately, you get conditioned to where there are times you can be defeatist. And you try not to be. But you just don’t give up.”
Fans have little choice but to persevere in a place where nickname-worthy moments are tied to losses.
For the Bills, it’s ”Wide Right,” after kicker Scott Norwood missed a last-second field-goal attempt in a 20-19 loss to the New York Giants in the 1991 Super Bowl – the first of four consecutive Super Bowl losses.
For the Sabres, it’s ”No Goal,” following a 2-1, triple-overtime loss to Dallas in Game 6 of the 1999 Stanley Cup Final. Brett Hull’s Cup-clinching goal stood even though replays showed his skate in the crease.
Those were the so-called glory days.
The Bills and Sabres have won five playoff games combined since 2008. By comparison, the NHL’s expansion Vegas Golden Knights have already won eight in their first year of existence.
Buffalo joins Nashville, Tennessee, and Charlotte, North Carolina, as the only North American markets with two or more major pro teams to not have won a title.
”I think it builds character in a way. I joke with my friends that one day my kids will have to go through therapy because we are Sabres, Bills and Mets fans,” said former VH1-cable TV chief Tom Calderone, who’s from Long Island, New York Chris Ivory Jersey , but got his broadcasting start in Buffalo and maintains a home in the city. ”It’s easy to be a Cowboys fan or a Patriots fan. But it takes true dedication to be a Bills or Sabres fan.”
Calderone sees more hope reflected in signs of resurgence for the city itself.
The former site of the Erie Canal has been transformed from vacant gravel lots to parkland, a water park that doubles as an ice rink in winter, and an entertainment/hockey complex built by Bills and Sabres owner Terry Pegula.
Housing prices have tripled and a medical corridor is newly bustling along Main Street, where shuttered and boarded-up buildings have been renovated or replaced by new steel and glass structures.
Buffalo still has its rust-belt blemishes as one of the nation’s poorest cities. Racial inequities, failing schools and a crumbling infrastructure remain issues.
The Bills and Sabres aren’t immune to troubling headlines. Last week, the two teams’ president Russ Brandon resigned amid allegations of having inappropriate relationships with female employees.
Buffalo might never regain the industrial-age prominence it held in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when the city became a Great Lakes shipping hub as the gateway to the Erie Canal.
Nor, however, should it become the punchline comedian Jon Stewart once delivered during a stop in Buffalo, calling the city the gateway to the Ontario border town of Fort Erie just across the Niagara River – population 30,000.
Watching a documentary on former Bills running back O.J. Simpson, Bakay was reminded of the gloomy times in the 1970s when the steel mills began closing and legions of people left to find jobs.
”It depressed me so much,” he said. ”Every shot of Buffalo looked like a moose that farted into the sky.”
The decline led to Buffalo investing its psyche into its sports teams as a way of remaining part of the national conversation.

— Chandler Jones had an All-Pro season as an outside linebacker in 2017 Damon Harrison Jersey , leading the NFL in tackles with an Arizona Cardinals franchise-record 17.
Now he’s a defensive end, a position that could mean even more trouble for opposing quarterbacks. His only duties: set the edge to stop the run or get to the quarterback, something Jones does with a vengeance.
There’s a viral video of Jones wreaking severe damage on a blocking sled earlier in camp.
“Just too powerful” he explained.
But there’s more than power to the 6-foot-5, 265-pound Jones’ game.
“The guy has great length, good speed off the ball,” Cardinals coach Steve Wilks said. “He has that sliver technique to be able to get around the edge of the tackles, and he’s physical. He can turn that speed into power and create some momentum getting back to the quarterback. He has it all, and hopefully we can continue to build on what he had last year.”
Jones came to the Cardinals from New England in March of 2016 in a trade that sent a second-round draft pick and guard Jonathan Cooper to the Patriots. Because the Cardinals played a 3-4 defense under coach Bruce Arians, Jones had to learn to drop back in pass coverage as well as rush the passer and try to stop the run.
He handled the transition well.
Jones had 11 sacks and four forced fumbles in 2016 and, in March of last year, signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract that offseason, with $53 million guaranteed.
In the 2017 season Drew Brees Jersey , Jones lived up to those big numbers. Not only did he lead the league in sacks but also in tackles for loss with 28, well ahead of the second-best performance, 21 by Houston’s Jadeveon Clowney.
“I feel like if you want to be labeled an elite defensive end, you can’t be just a pass rusher,” Jones said. “You have to be good on all cylinders and definitely setting the edge and defeating the run is one of them. That’s one thing I tried to take pride in last season and hopefully I can carry that forward to this season.”
Now 28 and entering his seventh NFL season, Jones wants more.
His goal, he said, is to do “better than I did last year.”
“There’s never a perfect season,” Jones said. “I can sit here and tell you a handful of plays that I left out there last season and hopefully I can capitalize this year.”
With Arians’ retirement and the arrival of Wilks, Jones is moving back to the 4-3 defense that he played with the Patriots. It means going back to a three-point stance instead of standing up as an outside linebacker.
“It’s not that hard,” he said. “You just have different terminology. You attack offenses different, but it’s not that big of a difference honestly.”
“He hasn’t had a problem with that at all,” he said. “You go look back at some of the things he’s done in the past. He’s put his hand on the ground before.”
Jones likes the new defense.
“I feel like guys are flying around a lot more Aaron Rodgers Jersey ,” he said. “There’s less thinking. There’s one-gap assignments and everyone is flying to the ball.”
Jones will get some edge-rushing help from the return of Markus Golden, who had a team-high 12 1/2 sacks in 2016 but played in just four games a year ago before a season-ending knee injury. Golden is on the physically unable to perform list but could be back before the season begins.
“Markus is a vocal leader,” Jones said. “He’s a guy that you can feel his presence out there but not by just his game play. I’m excited to have him back he’s a ‘hoorah’ guy and a hell of a player on top of that.”
Meanwhile, Jones and left tackle D.J. Humphries have had some spirited battles already in training camp as Wilks encouraged physical play. Humphries is lucky to have the practice, Jones said.
“I told D.J. yesterday, ‘You know what? You’ll never go against someone in a game that’s like me’ and I say that proudly because there’s not a lot of guys that do the moves that I do. I told D.J., ‘If you can stop me on a consistent basis, you’ll be fine.'”
Notes: Wilks said LB an MRI on LB Deone Bucannon’s knee showed no structural damage and the player’s availability in training camp would be evaluated “day to day.” Bucannon banged his knee against WR Brice Butler’s helmet on Thursday. … Several thousand people attended the team’s “Red and White Practice” on Saturday.
ATLANTA — Backed by four home runs, veteran San Diego Padres left-hander Clayton Richard finally got his first career victory over the Atlanta Braves on June 4 in San Diego.
Now comes the hard part, though, as Richard tries to follow up that victory with one in Atlanta, where both he and the Padres have struggled.
Richard is 0-5 on the road against the Braves, going 0-4 with a 7.52 ERA in five games at Turner Field and losing last April during the first series at new SunTrust Park while giving up nine hits Darian Thompson Jersey , including two homers, and four runs in six innings.
The Braves’ 4-2 victory over the Padres in the series opener Thursday night was their eighth straight at home over San Diego and 13th in the past 15 games against the Padres.
Atlanta, meanwhile, has lost 12 of its past 15 games in San Diego.
Richard (5-6, 4.40 ERA) is pitching well at home or on the road going into Friday night’s start against the National League East-leading Braves (40-28).
The 34-year-old former college quarterback carried a no-hitter through two outs in the seventh inning at Miami on Sunday and has pitched at least seven innings in six of his past seven starts while lowering his ERA by nearly two runs since early May.
It had been tentatively lined up for Richard to face the Braves’ Julio Teheran, who left early in the 11-4 Padres victory at San Diego on June 4 because of a right thumb contusion.
Brandon McCarthy (5-3, 5.03) will start opposite Richard, though, with Teheran now penciled in to come off the 10-day disabled list Sunday and face the Padres (33-38) in the series finale.
“He threw a good bullpen and he was fine,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said of Teheran. “The plan will be, unless something comes up from now until then, for him to start of Sunday.”
Teheran gave up three homers and then was pulled after facing one batter in the fifth inning at San Diego before the Padres battered the Braves’ bullpen in a seven-run sixth.
Given the nice cushion, Richard worked seven innings and gave up six hits and three runs in his first career victory over the Braves.
“You go from making sure you are executing pitches to making sure you are throwing strikes Dan Feeney Jersey ,” Richard said afterward. “It’s fun to have those types of games.”
Richard, not the offense, was the story on Sunday in Miami. The Padres are the only major league team to never throw a no-hit game.
Tyson Ross and Jordan Lyles took no-hitters into the eighth inning this season before Richard made it to the seventh, though.
“He’s such a contact-oriented pitcher that those aren’t really the guys that profile to get no-hitters very often,” Padres manager Andy Green said of Richard.
While Richard has turned his season around, veteran left-hander McCarthy has been heading the other way for the Braves.
McCarthy was 4-0 with a 3.09 ERA in April but gave up 14 runs in his first two starts of May and lasted just 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Dodgers in Los Angeles a week ago.
The 6-foot-8 McCarthy, acquired from Los Angeles in an offseason trade, has enjoyed success in his career against San Diego, though. He is 8-1 with a 3.73 ERA in 11 appearances, including 10 starts.

A Guatemalan man living illegally in the U.S. pleaded guilty Friday to driving drunk in a crash that killed Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and his Uber driver.
Manuel Orrego-Savala Kalen Ballage Jersey , 37, pleaded guilty to two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .15 or more, causing death.
Orrego-Savala had a BAC of 0.19 percent, or more than twice Indiana's legal limit of .08 percent, when his truck crashed into Uber driver Jeffrey Monroe, 54, of Avon and Jackson, 26, as they stood outside Monroe's car on the shoulder of Interstate 70. Investigators have said Monroe was transporting Jackson for the ride-sharing service on Feb. 4 and had pulled over after Jackson became ill.
Orrego-Savala is due to be sentenced Sept. 14 and faces a possible maximum sentence of 16 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $20,000.
Under a plea agreement Lester Hayes Jersey , prosecutors agreed to drop two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
Orrego-Savala was deported from the U.S. in 2007 and 2009 and was back in the country illegally at the time of the crash, authorities said.
The case became a flash point in the nation's immigration debate, with President Donald Trump tweeting about it and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Braun featuring it in an Indiana campaign advertisement.
Savala also faces charges of perjury, forgery, identity deception and false informing out of Boone County for allegedly using the alias of Alex Cabrera Gonsales 2017 for driving without a license. Savala initially identified himself as Cabrera Gonsales to police following the February crash.
Additionally, federal immigration officials have filed charges of illegal re-entry by a previously deported alien against Savala.

LAST SEASON: Dolphins missed playoffs for eighth time in nine seasons, and backslid in Year 2 under coach Adam Gase, leaving regime at crossroads in 2018. Miami was wildly inconsistent, undisciplined team last year, and Gase addressed issue in reshaping roster this offseason. Questions arose regarding leadership of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and receiver Jarvis Landry Lyle Alzado Jersey , and both are gone. Defensive end Robert Quinn and receiver Danny Amendola among veteran newcomers. Gase may have improved locker room culture, but few see net gain in talent, which magnifies importance of draft. Owner Stephen Ross opted for stability at top after last season, and Gase, executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum and general manager Chris Grier are backs.
THEY NEED: LB, TE, G, DT, QB, CB Y.A. Tittle Jersey , RB.
THEY DON'T NEED: DE, WR, S.
POSSIBLE FIRST PICK: QB Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma; QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville; LB Roquan Smith, Georgia; LB Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech; DT Vita Vea, Washington.
OUTLOOK: Dolphins have numerous glaring needs, including vacant starting spots at outside linebacker and tight end. However, Gase wants to draft quarterback to groom as Ryan Tannehill's eventual successor Anthony Hitchens Jersey , and question is whether they'll devote their first-round pick to position, which would likely require trading up. With Tannehill entrenched for 2018, adding rookie QB would be done with long term in mind. But 77-year-old Ross is eager to win now, and worries about job security may tempt draft decision makers Gase, Tannenbaum and Grier to make picks that pay quicker dividends.

After plugging holes on the defensive and offensive lines and at running back Reggie Nelson Jersey , the Washington Redskins still have plenty of depth needs to fill on the third day of the NFL draft.
Washington has five picks left: one each in the fourth, fifth and sixth and two in the seventh round Saturday. The extra fifth-rounder the Redskins got from Denver for safety Su'a Cravens they traded to San Francisco on Friday night as part of a deal to move down in the second round and pick up an extra third.
Taking Alabama defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne 13th overall, LSU running back Derrius Guice 59th and Louisville offensive tackle Geron Christian 74th should allow the Redskins to solidify their secondary and perhaps find a long-term prospect at tight end. Selecting Christian likely moves swing tackle Ty Nsekhe to the starting left guard spot Derrick Thomas Jersey , making good on senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams' theory that the team wasn't going into the draft determined to get a guard.
Washington prioritized defensive line over other defensive positions by taking Payne, and young defensive backs Fabian Moreau and Montae Nicholson will be counted on more in 2018. It could still use another cornerback and safety either in the draft or through free agency.
Years of injuries to star tight end Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis being 34 makes that position a strong possibility, even a year after taking Jeremy Sprinkle. Getting more receiver options for recently-acquired quarterback Alex Smith also puts receiver in play.
The New Jersey Devils have re-signed backup goaltender Eddie Lack to a one-year Damon Harrison Jersey , $650,000 contract.
General manager Ray Shero announced the contract Saturday for Lack, who has played in 144 NHL games for four teams.
The 30-year-old Lack was acquired by New Jersey from Calgary in December 2017 for defenseman Dalton Prout.
He backed up Keith Kincaid when Cory Schneider was hurt. Lack appeared in four games for the Devils Xavien Howard Jersey , including a 4-3 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in which he made a career-high 48 saves.
Lack had a 1-2-0 record with a 3.18 goals-against average for New Jersey.
In 16 games with Binghamton of the American Hockey League, he went 6-7-2 with a 2.90 goals-against average.
Lack previously played for the Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes.

C.J. Anderson is leaving Denver with a million memories Wil Lutz Jersey , a Super Bowl ring and no hard feelings.
"It's business, I understand it," Anderson told The Associated Press on Monday after he was released by the Denver Broncos. "I've been here five years and it came to an end. So, I'm excited for the next opportunity."
Where that is, "I don't know," Anderson said. "I have no clue at all."
Possible landing spots include Miami, where Dolphins coach Adam Gase offered him a four-year, $18 million deal in 2016 that Denver matched, and New England, where Patriots coach Bill Belichick is also a big fan.
Anderson hits free agency at an opportune time.
He's 27, has just 683 career carries and is coming off his best season, one in which he played in all 16 games for the first time and ran for a career-best 1,007 yards .
"I would never say it's a good time to be free Nat Moore Jersey ," Anderson said. "All I ever tried to do was give my best effort to Denver in every way possible. I did that for five years. Now it's time to go and do that for another team."
Anderson wasn't one of the 23 running backs drafted in 2013 but the Cal alum has put up better career numbers than all of those running backs except for one: Steelers star Le'Veon Bell.
Anderson's resume includes a Pro Bowl, two dozen TDs, a pair of playoff touchdowns and numerous game-sealing runs, none bigger than his TD plunge that capped Denver's 24-10 win over Carolina in the Super Bowl three years ago.
Shortly afterward, Gase, who had been his offensive coordinator in Denver, offered him the big contract that Broncos GM John Elway ultimately matched.
The deal included a $5 million signing bonus and salaries of $675,000 in 2016, $2.9 million last year and $4.5 million in each of the next two years.
Because there was no dead cap money in 2018 or '19, Anderson knew his release was, if not imminent, a very strong possibility this offseason as the Broncos rebuild an anemic offense following a 5-11 season.
"I knew I could be released or traded at any time," Anderson said.
His release not only clears a combined $9 million off the books for Denver but it opens the way for Devontae Booker Jake Ryan Jersey , De'Angelo Henderson or maybe even a pick in the upcoming draft to take over as the Broncos' featured back alongside new QB Case Keenum .
"I respect the decision whether it's a money issue or a play issue," Anderson said. "They feel like they can move on from me. I understand that. That's the beauty of our game. Now I get an opportunity to showcase my skills somewhere else."
Continuity paid off for the Los Angeles Rams' offense last season, starting with the same offensive line combination that played together in all but one game.
It certainly did for running back Todd Gurley, who signed a four-year, $60 million contract extension in July after running for 1,305 yards and scoring 19 total touchdowns last season behind that familiar front five.
"Whoever said money don't make you happy lied," Gurley said with a smile Wednesday.
The Rams expect even greater stability on offense to translate into continued success in head coach Sean McVay's second season, a belief that has been reinforced during the start of training camp.
At this same stage last year, the Rams were working in new additions at left tackle, center and wide receiver while learning the basics of a new offense, and were still weeks away from trading for wide receiver Sammy Watkins. They return 10 of 11 starters for this year's workouts at UC Irvine, with new acquisition Brandin Cooks replacing Watkins as the big play threat in the passing game.
Quarterback Jared Goff said the familiarity is paying dividends, especially during the transition from teaching the offense in the first few days to refining each element of a system that produced an NFL-leading 29.9 points per game.
"We feel like we're in a good spot Ronnie Lott Jersey ," Goff said. "Offensively, we've been starting to click. I think today was the first day you really felt that consistency starting to gel. We're not so much installing anymore, we're running the same plays over and over again and starting to get a good feel with it."
"It makes everyone so much more comfortable just to come out here and just play our game. You don't have to think about too much, and that's what it is all about," Gurley said.
For Goff, his increased comfort level entering his second season as the starter manifests in a better understanding of what opposing defenses are trying to do.
"It just continues to slow down," Goff said. "Your pre-snap process is a lot smoother, and you're more under control of everything and are seeing things better."
While Goff is playing faster, there has been no deceleration by Gurley after signing a contract featuring the most guaranteed money for a running back in NFL history. Goff and McVay both praised his relentlessness in practice, with a prime example coming when Gurley kept running towards the end zone as McVay was setting up the next play in the sequence.
"I got what I want, now let's keep going," Gurley said. "Nothing doesn't stop. The grind continues. It's going to be even harder now, obviously Vonn Bell Jersey , to be able to do what I did last year, and teams are going to game plan for it. It's my job to go out there, put myself in a great position and try to work as hard as I can. As long as I do that, I feel comfortable with the players around me and the coaches around me to put me in a great position."
With so much familiarity returning, Gurley is ready to build on his best season to date. But he understands his individual production is the result of what the offense does together, declaring that every running back is the beneficiary of the blocking he gets before Gurley backtracked.
"Obviously, Barry Sanders is going to do what he do, but it doesn't matter what other running back you have back there. If you don't have all 11 doing one thing, then it's not going to work," he said.
NOTES: Outside linebacker Matt Longacre left practice early because of an undisclosed injury. . Kicker Greg Zuerlein made a 63-yard field goal during a simulated two-minute drill.
